Song Streams & Revenue

It’s a new Thursday and a new song revenue chart. As reported by Hits Double Daily, which tracks streaming revenue week over week, the above chart reflects the streaming period from September 15th to 21st.

Drake’s #1 collab with SZA earned $148K from over 30M streams in its opening week. Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red” is still going strong with $107K in revenue from 22M streams. Rod Wave’s four most-streamed songs from his album Nostalgia earned a combined $233K from over 48M streams in its first week.

Kanye’s New Album Could Drop ‘Without Warning’ After ‘Jesus Is King 2’ Leaks

Sources close to Kanye told TMZ and Forbes that he’s been hard at work on his new solo album, completing 10 tracks this week alone, and it could drop anytime without the usual weeks-long rollout. Two albums from his vault have already leaked this month—here’s everything you need to know.

Jesus Is King 2, Kanye’s collab album with Dr. Dre, hit the internet this week in what was supposed to be the sequel to his 2019 gospel album Jesus Is King. The leaked version has 15 songs and is mainly made up of remixes from the original but with features from Eminem, Travis Scott, Pusha T, 2 Chainz, Snoop Dogg, Anderson .Paak, and A$AP Ferg.

As with most leaks, they get scrubbed quickly, but Reddit still has some up that are linked below and the full tracklist here.

The standout tracks from the leak are the remixed “LA Monster” with Ferg and “On Hands” with Travis. Earlier this month, Donda: With Child leaked online, reportedly an early version of Kanye’s 2021 album Donda.

Some of Kanye’s collaborators have been outspoken in the wake of these leaks. Producer FredWreck, who is signed to Dr. Dre’s imprint and worked on Jesus Is King 2, had less than favorable things to say about the rapper.

Meanwhile, Malik Yusef went on the Rap Today With Francis podcast and weighed in on Kanye’s antisemitic comments from last year. “I think they were for Drake. I don’t know who else you would say that was. I have never worked directly with Drake ‘cause Kanye asked me not to,” Yusef said. He claims Kanye asked Travis Scott to also avoid working with Drake, but Travis refused.

YNW Melly Really Wants This Motive Banned From His 2nd Trial

As YNW Melly prepares for this second trial, his legal team filed a motion this week that attempts to block prosecutor Kristine Bradley from presenting a narrative related to money.

The motion asked the judge to ban testimony from any witnesses in the upcoming retrial who suggest there was an agreement between Melly and YNW Sakchaser to split all of the profits from music.

Melly’s team suspects that Bradley will present a witness for the motive of money, and they ask that if that happens, it has to be backed up with evidence, or testimony isn’t allowed.

Admissible evidence would include a signed contract or agreement, a verbal or written acknowledgment by Melly that he owed Sakchaser money. Otherwise, “any reference to it would be pure hearsay and conjecture,” the motion read.

The preemptive block is likely because Sakchaser’s mother and lead murder detective Mark Moretti said in depositions that they believe Sakchaser was waiting for a $200K payment before his death.
