21 Savage Spotify Global Streams for ‘American Dream’

In the absence of a new Billboard Hot 100, due to the MLK holiday, we tracked the daily global Spotify streams for 21 Savage’s American Dream to see which songs came out on top. The above chart reflects the streaming period of Jan 12 to 15.

At #1 is “redrum,” racking up almost 15M global streams in the four days following the album’s release. “Née-nah” isn’t far behind, with over 13.5M global streams.

Sales projections

American Dream is expected to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 130K to 150K in first-week sales. It’ll mark 21’s second consecutive #1 solo album and fourth #1 album overall if you count the collab projects Her Loss and Savage Mode II. See how the projections compare to his previous debuts:

  • Issa Album 77K first-week sales

  • I am > I was 131K first-week sales

  • Savage Mode II 171K first-week sales

Drake & Metro Boomin Keep Throwing Shade Despite Denying Beef

Another week, another subtweet exchange between Drake and Metro Boomin. Despite Metro saying the rumors of beef were “not that deep at all lmao” on X recently, the shade keeps shading. Find out the latest in the “not that deep” feud below.

When 21 Savage dropped American Dream, some were surprised not to see Drake on the tracklist, but Metro was a given, appearing on four songs. Naturally, Drake showed 21 his “can you do something for me” support by promoting the album on his IG stories.

When posting the song “just like me” on his story, Drake, being the petty king he is, strategically covered Metro Boomin’s name with emojis, leaving 21 Savage and Burna Boy clearly legible. Condolences go out to 21. It’s always the children of divorce that end up in the middle.

Metro’s shade can be found in his likes on X, liking a post that humorously plays into the narrative of a feud but not one deep enough for a “say it with your chest” retweet. The alleged beef started with passiveness in a thread on X when Metro responded to stats comparing Her Loss and Heroes & Villains, so it’s fitting that it stays within the confines of subtweets. Guess deep beef can only be categorized by direct shots. 🥩

On a scale of 1 to beef, how do you rate this alleged feud?

Lyrical Lemonade Reveals ‘All is Yellow’ Tracklist & Features

Lyrical Lemonade’s rollout for their debut compilation album, All is Yellow, is basically the slowed reverb version of Playboi Carti’s rollout. Since June 2023, they’ve released five singles over the span of seven months, each accompanied by a music video leading up to the January 26th release date.

The 14-track project includes new music from Lil Yachty, Chief Keef, Lil Tjay, Sheck Wes, J.I.D., Eminem, Lil Tecca, and more. “Doomsday” ft. Juice WRLD and Cordae was the first released single and made waves for its Eminem-inspired flow and sample of his 1999 song “Role Model.”

Fans who wanted the real Slim Shady will be pleased to see “Doomsday Pt. 2” on the tracklist ft. Eminem, as he presumably raps over his own sample. We’ll see how it stacks up against J. Cole and Cordae’s take.

Executive produced and arranged by Cole Bennett, All is Yellow is the first time the director steps into a music curatorial role, leveraging the close artist relationships he’s built over the years.

Producer albums, in the same vein, are only as good as their captain. You may never hear Metro Boomin rap, but his fingerprints are all over his albums, from the genre and artist pairings to the samples and concepts.

While Bennett is much earlier in his curator arc than Metro, he’s already unified some exciting pairings in the tracklist that stir curiosity about the finished product. Most notably:

  • Sheck Wes, Ski Mask the Slump God, and J.I.D. on “Fly Away”

  • Chief Keef and Lil Yachty on “Say Ya Grace”

  • Lil Tecca, the Kid LAROI, and Lil Skies on “This My Life”

  • $NOT and 6 Dogs on “With The Fish”

Playboi Carti Drops ‘EVILJ0RDAN’ Song

If you don’t write long, heartfelt anecdotes about Playboi Carti’s life-changing effects in the comments section of Carti posts—you may have missed this drop. “EVILJ0RDAN,” marks the fifth single Carti has released leading up to his album.

The Cardo and Johnny Juliano-produced track follows the sonic footsteps of “BACKR00MS,” and “H00DBYAIR,” solidifying that Carti’s dark trap sound will be in a lane of its own for this next album. The song was first teased on Carti’s IG stories on December 8, right before he announced his next album would be released in 2024.

“This is not a rockstar phase / I’m a emo thug in my phase,” Carti raps in the first verse as Swap Izzo makes his presence known with unmistakable adlibs—"SWAP IZZO 😤”

“Disrespect the 5, I put your ass in the food chain,” is another lyric you’ll likely see called out. Carti’s showing his loyalty to Opium group, Homixide Gang, who have been the subject of rumored fights with other rappers.

Meanwhile, his Antagonist tour with fellow Opium artists is still paused with no rescheduled dates, but he was just spotted at the Louis Vuitton menswear show in Paris.
