Step one on how to avoid getting coronavirus: throw away the face masks and rubber gloves! If you’re on a flight and you are paranoid about the growing epidemic which is the coronavirus, here’s what you need to know:

According to medical supervisor and physician David Powell, the virus cannot survive for very long on surfaces such as armrests and seats.

The greatest risk of contracting the virus will be through person to person contact. In fact, the air supply on a plane is guaranteed to be 99.97% (or better) free of viruses and harmful particles. Therefore, the only risk can really come from the people on the plane with you.

This is why it is important to wash your hands thouroughly, especially after coming into contact with people who have been traveling.

Here are a few tips on how to avoid getting coronavirus:

  • Wash hand frequently
  • Sanitize hands with alcohol (if washing them is not an option)
  • Avoid touching your face
  • If you wear a mask or gloves, make sure you are cleaning it or exchanging it to avoid transferring the bacteria that may get locked inside of them

When Should We Stop Worrying?

We should always be cautious of our hygiene in general. However, when it comes to Novel Coronavirus, new cases have been increasing by up to 20% each day. We should stop worrying when that number is declining instead of increasing. This way, we will know that we are successfully containing and fighting off the virus.

To keep up with the spread of the virus, be sure to keep following us at raptv and checking up on what the CDC and WHO reports.
