Kanye’s Ex-Trainer Sparks Security Concerns After “Vulture” Song Release

Kanye did New Music Friday in his way last week, premiering a new song on Chicago radio station Power 92. The track “Vultures” was played by DJ Pharris, a longtime friend of Kanye’s who was the first to play his music on the radio, and features Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Durk, and Bump J.

Kanye’s verse throws shots at his ex-manager, Scooter Braun, who he fired in 2018, rapping, “I just fucked Scooter’s bitch and we ran up like Olympics.” He word plays Jimmy Butler and the Columbine shooting by ending his verse with “This ain’t Jimmy Butler, but the heat got extensions / This ain’t Columbine, but we came in with the trenches.” Listen to “Vultures” below.

The most controversial lyric addresses his antisemitic comments head-on with the Central Cee-inspired bar, “How am I antisemitic? I just fucked a Jewish bitch.” It’s likely to further anger those he’s already offended, but one person from his past has resurfaced, causing security concerns.

Harley Pasternak is Kanye’s ex-trainer, who allegedly threatened to have Kanye “institutionalized again” last year. The Daily Mail published photos and videos of Pasternak in the lobby of a Dubai hotel where Kanye is currently staying with his kids.

In 2016, Kanye was hospitalized after suffering a temporary psychosis at Pasternak’s home, which led to his bipolar diagnosis. At that time, Pasternak was still employed as Kanye’s trainer, and they seemed to have an amicable relationship. Kanye has since claimed that he was misdiagnosed and there was foul play in his 2016 institutionalization.

In November 2022, Kanye leaked texts that were allegedly from Pasternak, threatening to send Kanye back to “Zombieland forever” if the two of them didn’t sit down for a conversation about his antisemitic remarks. None of this has been proven to be accurate and remains an allegation.

Rating Drake’s Disses on ‘FATD Scary Hours Edition’

Last week, Drake teased the third edition of his Scary Hours EPs, which turned out to be streaming bait for a deluxe version of For All The Dogs with the addition of six new songs. Petty Drake was in the studio for this one because his lyrics are rife with shots aimed at old rivals and storytelling bars for the critics who said FATD had more singing than good pen. Below, find a ranking of all the disses Drake unloaded.

Kanye Diss 3.5/5

Every time you need me for a boost, I never hesitated/ Every time that Yeezy called a truce, he had my head inflated/ Thinkin’ we gon’ finally peace it up and get to levitatin’/ Realise that everything premeditated

Drake on “Red Button”

It’s the most direct shot Drake’s taken at Kanye since the pair have alluded to a falling out since the Larry Hoover benefit concert. However, Kanye’s been relatively quiet on the Drake hate front, and rap beef is best as a two-player game, making the diss stale despite the bars being solid.

Joe Budden Diss 2.5/5

Imagine us getting our validation from an ex-musician searching for recognition/ Same story every time, they heckle in repetition/ I’m top of the mountain, these n****s still down at base camp, they planning they expedition.

Drake on “Stories About My Brother”

The Conductor Williams’ beat, paired with Drake’s flow, deserves praise on its own, but the target of Joe Budden, after Drake rinsed him on his IG stories, is not so much a new thriller as it is a tired rerun. Drake’s letting Budden live rent-free in his mind instead of evicting him.

6ix9ine Diss 4/5

Y’all the type to catch a charge, head to the deposition/ And act like the rapper named after the sex position.

Drake on “Stories About My Brother”

Before taking a breath after the Budden diss, Drake uses the rapper 6ix9ine as the punchline for a clever bar about those below him being snitches. There is no played out narrative between the two to take away from wordplay.

Pusha T Diss 1/5

Man, I remember n****s was joking ’bout some tick, tick/ And now that rapper broke as fuck, that boy a statistic

Drake on “Wick Man”

The Pusha T shade is getting older than Drake. No amount of money will ever top Pusha’s “The Story of Adidon” diss track. The lyric highlights that Budden might live rent-free, but Pusha owns property in Drake’s mind.
