Billboard Hot 100

As reported by ‘Billboard’ for the week of January 27th.

The above chart shows Billboard’s Hot 100 ranking for this week. The Hot 100 ranks songs based on streaming activity, radio airplay audience impressions, and sales data—all measured by Luminate.

21 Savage just earned his fourth consecutive #1 album. American Dream debuted with 133K in album equivalent sales, scoring his best first week for any solo project and outselling the 131K debut of 2018’s i am > i was. The tracks “redrum” and “née-nah” debuted in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 at #5 and #10, respectively.

Travis Scott’s ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ Movie Will Premiere at Strip Club, Not Theatre

Harmony Korine’s Aggro Dr1ft movie starring Travis Scott is going on an immersive and experimental tour with multimedia design collective EDGLRD. The most unorthodox piece of this news is the venues where the film will be premiered, opting for the LA strip club Crazy Girls for the first screening on Feb 7 and 8.

The film’s distribution “goes beyond the limitations of the outdated moviegoing experience,” and “you don’t just watch Aggro Dr1ft—you step into a new world,” said EDGLRD’s Eric Kohn in a statement. Tickets for the first screening will later be made available on DICE.

Find out why a strip club is incredibly on-brand for Scott’s first film collaboration and what else the tour has in store.

What is Aggro Dr1ft?

It’s an avant-garde action movie filmed entirely in infrared. Described as “gamecore,” the film’s pièce de résistance lies in its unique visuals and aesthetic rather than its plot, emulating the vibe of crime-ridden video games like Grand Theft Auto. Think strippers, guns, and sensory overload in a dystopian Florida.

What part does Travis Scott play?

Scott stars as Zion, the snake-tongued militia leader, who is the protégé of Bo, the world’s greatest assassin, as they attempt to defeat the world’s most dangerous psychopath. Zion appears in scenes alongside Bo as his right-hand man.

Scott may have name-dropped his Aggro Dr1ft character in his guest verse on 21 Savage’s “née-nah,” rapping, “Ain’t catching Zs, I been in the V, on road to Zion.”

Why screen it at a strip club?

Deadline’s review of the film describes the villain as “an enthusiastic patron of strip clubs, where he is the life and likely financier of the party, growling, ‘YEAH! URGH! DANCE, BITCHES!’ at scantily clad women who are already dancing.”

The strip club seems to be a consistent theme throughout. Bo’s narration tells the audience at one point to be careful of strippers because if you stare into their eyes for too long, you’ll lose your soul.

What to expect?

The tour will hit up a variety of unconventional locations, utilizing EDGLRD’s animation and visual effects and a live performance from hip-hop electro producer Araabmuzik, who scored the film.

It’s possible Scott will make an appearance at one of the screenings, and it’s worth noting he has no scheduled Circus Maximus tour dates on Feb 7 or 8.

Kanye Reveals Three-Part Release for ‘Vultures’ With New Trailer

“Change of plans!” is what I imagine Kanye saying for the 100th time in front of a whiteboard before the ink has dried as he modifies the Vultures release—again. The previously announced Feb 9 date has stuck, but Kanye unveiled a new three-part release for Vultures over the course of the next two months.

Because there are exactly four weeks between Feb 9, March 8, and April 5, it means he’s actually dropping this time (I’m delusional). The more likely scenario, theorized by X u/tervisscoot, is that we got three Kanye lies for the price of one. Or he’s scrapping three albums instead of one. Choose your disappointment adventure.

Alongside the alleged three-part special (which doesn’t specify a year almost as a contingency plan), Kanye dropped an eerie album trailer. Hooded figures, burning homes, owls, and wolves make up some of the imagery in the minute-long video, which feels like a vintage horror film depicting the end of the world.

A rough cut of Vultures, premiered in Miami and Las Vegas, featured Playboi Carti, Kodak Black, Lil Baby, Chris Brown, Freddie Gibbs, and more. But clearance issues from Nicki Minaj and a Backstreet Boys interpolation would suggest it’s unlikely to get that version of the album in full.

Drake Enters His Lifestyle Influencer Era

Drake took a break from sports betting and IG story subtweeting and pivoted to #GRWM content. Yasiin Bey might even call it #GRWM with an edge—showing Drake’s wind-down routine instead of getting ready.

The 2-minute long video shows Drake doing #justDrakethings. He makes a cocktail! He smokes hookah! He sits by the fire! He indulges in his aquatic amenities! He does his skincare!

It has all the makings of a lifestyle influencer’s short-form content, but it’s not a paid promotion because he doesn’t show what products he used or tell you they’re linked in his Amazon storefront.

Does he have an influencer alter ego like Anita Max Wynn? She’s already nailed the product placement and promotion modules of Influencer 101, releasing the very hat Drake introduced her with on the DrakeRelated site.

The video is a parody of influencer Drew Walls’ content, who films himself doing extremely mundane things in excruciating detail with more tripod set-up and tear-down angles than the number of songs on For All The Dogs deluxe.

One of Drew’s most popular videos is a late-night Target run, leading fans to believe that the parody is a subtle shot at Yasiin Bey for his recent criticism of Drake’s commercial pop music, more suitable for Target shopping than the hip-hop category.
